Our Mission

SUSTAINABLE METHODS

Sustainable Methods

The companies covered in our publication are committed to environmentally and socially responsible methods.  These are Triple Bottom Line companies that focus on their financial bottom lines in ways that also deliver benefits to environmental and social bottom lines.   Sustainable practices include energy and water efficiencies, recycling, waste and chemical reduction and strategies for reducing carbon emissions, as well as programs that support communities and social improvements.

ORGANIC PRACTICES

Organic Practices

One aspect of sustainability is a commitment to organic products. Organic agricultural production has many facets but the primary piece is avoiding the use of chemical, toxic pesticides and fertilizers.  Due to the high demand for organic products, it has become a labeling term intended to indicate whether or not a food or other agricultural product has been produced according to specified standards.  USDA certified organic must meet specific requirements and be verified by a USDA-accredited certifying agent.

CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Corporate Social Responsibility

Growing numbers of consumers are looking for more than just high-quality products and services when they make a purchase. They want to support companies that prioritize effecting social change with their business beliefs, practices and profits.  This is called Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).  Some aspects of CSR include environmental efforts, philanthropy, ethical labor practices, community volunteering and taking stands on certain social issues.
